All anarchy is breaking out on the fashion front. Gritty punk rock style is getting a glam makeover at the moment, with designers bringing serious punk elements into this season’s runway looks.
Punk will be taking centre stage in the fashion world next week, with “Punk: Chaos to Couture” opening at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 9, with a sure-to-be-star-studded gala benefit. It will honour the Queen Of Punk herself, Dame Vivienne Westwood.
Chances are you may not have experienced punk the first time around, but with designers having a love affair with the era (with riotous pieces from the likes of Givenchy, Balmain and Vivienne Westwood) you are sure to be inspired by all things metal, spiked and leather.
The punk beauty look is the polar opposite of pretty – with two toned hair, loud colours and under-cuts leading the catwalks.
Take inspiration from Hollywood’s dark star’s Rooney Mara and Evan Rachel Wood and Alice Delall, who is fashion’s punk princess…
Immerse yourself in the music that fuelled the revolution….Blondie, The Ramones, The Clash and The Sex Pistols. It’s all about the attitude as much as the style.
So now is the time to release you inner punk. And with it’s eye for urban fashion, Brown Sugar’s sister salon Sugar Cubed is set to be on the pulse of cutting edge street style, opening on Dublin’s Clarendon Street, beside The Westbury Mall, on July 1!
