Va-Va-Volume

Volume is back and that means more is more. We’ve got some simple tips for achieving volume.

Marc Jacob’s runway show showcased the best of teased curls, backcombing and voluminous ringlets. We’ve pulled some of the best images inspiring this voluminous craze. A great tip is to prep hair with a volumizing mousse and roughly blow-dry it using fingers.

Those with a natural curl are embracing the volume. We recommend washing hair with a volumizing shampoo, then applying conditioner to the ends only (you don’t want to weigh down your roots).

A great cut can really help. Well placed layers, styles cut with a blunt end, and bobs all give volume to fine, thin hair.

A tip from our top stylists is to blow dry your hair upside down – lifting up the roots and therefore adding volume.

Backcombing your hair at the crown and smoothing some hair over it will lift hair and not make it so flat.

Coloring your hair instantly makes hair look thicker, particularly darker colors. Some well placed highlights and lowlights can give the illusion of dimension.

The ultimate volume oppressor is heavy hairspray. So if you use a finishing product make sure it’s light.
