8 Tips for a healthy head!

We came across a great article in todays Irish Sun, which we felt might be of interest to our clients! We often get asked questions about hair care, mainly ‘are regular trims really necessary for healthy hair’ the answer is yes, but if you would like to know a little more as to why, read these 8 tips for a healthy crown.

  1. The secret to healthy hair is strong hair! Trim off any split ends you may have. If split ends are left uncut, they will continue up the shaft and damage more of your, get rid.
  2. You should wash your hair every day. This keeps the scalp clean and creates a healthier environment for your hair to grow. However if you have quite dry hair, it may be worth skipping a day with washing your hair, to let your hair absorb some of the natural oils from your body.
  3. Using cooler water to wash and rinse your hair helps to lock in moisture which creates amazing shine and softness.
  4. Always brush your hair from the ends up to the top to avoid breakage.
  5. Its always best to let your hair dry naturally, if you do need to use heat, make sure to apply a heat protection spray first. If you don’t its like putting an iron onto your skin!
  6. During sun exposure, remember your skin isn’t the only thing which needs protecting, sun exposure can dry the outside layer of your hair making it look dull. You can buy products now which have UVA and UVB filters, we recommend the Kerastase Soleil range, available in salon.
  7. Nutrition is essential for maintaining youthful and vibrant hair. Eat well, and reaps the benefits! Milk, Fish, Nuts, and Eggs are a great source of protein which help keep your hair in tip-top condition.
  8. If you need help, always see a registered consultant tricholigist.

A ‘Thank You’ from Mark…

“Sunday was a phenomenal success which surpassed our expectations in relation to monies raised for St.Francis Hospice, Raheny.

I would like to start by thanking all of my wonderful team in South William Street and Blackrock, all of whom donated their time and energy. For this I am extremely proud and grateful. However none of this would have been possible if it was not for our amazing and generous clients.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everybody for giving up your Sunday to come into our salons and creating an electric atmosphere with plenty of laughter and jokes to keep Eugenes memory alive. People travelled from both near and far to support us, which I am eternally grateful for.

Last, but by no means least I would like to thank the sponsors for their generous gift donations to our raffle which contributed €5000 to our bottom line. Loulerie, Hunter Communications, Coppinger Row, Cactus Jacks, Bagots Hutton, Original Penguin, Costume, A|wear, The Morgan, Warner Bros, Barry McCall, Deezer, Universal Music, L’Oreal, Green 19, Pepper Pot Cafe, Anna Lavery, Image Magazine, Irish Tatler, The Picture Rooms, Smock and Maria McGrail.

Once again thank you from the bottom of my heart – Mark O’Keeffe”

St.Francis Hospice fundraiser…

We have been left in a state of shock after yesterdays event! We would like to extend our gratefulness to every client, business and anyone who has donated to our fundraiser for the St. Francis Hospice, which marked the 1 year anniversary of the passing of our dear friend and colleague Eugene.

At a time of such sadness, it was a fantastic achievement for us to turn it around into such a positive thing, by raising funding for the hospice whom provides specialist palliative care to patients and families! To allow them to continue their work, means more families in the position the Reilly family where in last year, can receive the same priceless care which they received.

It is still to be confirmed, but our original target of €10,000 was exceeded and then some! An outstanding achievement for Brown Sugar, which could not have been done without our loyal customers and hard-working staff.

We would also like to extend a special thanks to all of the businesses who have provided such wonderful donations for our raffle which takes place this coming weekend, they have been a tremendous help to us in reaching our €10,000 goal.

While customers enjoyed some pampering and our staff happily worked away, Twitter and Facebook was exploding with such an amazing response to the fundraiser! Using the hashtag #HelpTheHospice – We have put together a slideshow of some of the amazing comments which we felt needed to be highlighted, as it was everyones generosity that made this day happen…. Which we are hoping will now be an annual Brown Sugar event!!

It’s a wrap!

With a hop, skip and a jump through a very fashionable month of April, Brown Sugar Better Fashion Week has come to an end…

The Brown Sugar Better Fashion Show marked the end of the 5th annual Brown Sugar Better Fashion Week at the weekend. Guests were treated to a spectacle of the best in Irish designs combined with hair and make up put together by our creative team to create an all together flawless show…

The Nomadic No 6 shop had been transformed into a high-fashion runway, while the outside had been made into a designated seating area for discerning fashionistas and passers by to watch the show which kicked off at dusk…

By the time the show had come to an end, crowds of people had coalated outside to check out the show!

Better Fashion Week had one more treat left for fashion enthusiasts with a Bill Cunningham screening on Sunday morning which was a lovely way to wave goodbye to Brown Sugar Better Fashion Week for another year.
